Sanayi domatesinin önemli zararlılarından birisi olan Helicoverpa armigera (Hübn.)'nın ekonomik zarar eşiği (EZE) 1998-1999 yıllarında Muradiye (Manisa)'de araştırılmıştır. H. armiger anın EZE değerini ortaya koyabilmek amacıyla 3, 5 ve 8 larva/100 bitki olmak üzere 3 farklı populasyon değeri denenmiştir. Her iki yılda toplam 4 tarla seçilmiştir. Her tarlada, her biri yaklaşık 2 da olan 4 parsel oluşturulmuştur. Bu parsellerde haftada bir defa yapılan sayımlarla larva yoğunlukları izlenmiştir. İlk üç parselde larva populasyonu belirlenen değere ulaştığı zamanlarda ilaçlama yapılmıştır. Dördüncü parselde ise H. armigera için hiç bir ilaçlama yapılmamıştır. Tarlalarda hasat zamanlarında her parselde ayrı hasat yapılmış ve parsellerin verimleri belirlenmiştir. Parsellerde yapılan ilaçlama giderleri ile elde edilen verim, değerlendirildiği zaman H. armigera'nın sanayi domatesindeki EZE değerinin 5 larva/100 bitki olduğu belirlenmiştir.

The investigations were carried out between the years 1998-1999 in Muradiye (Manisa province) for determining the economic threshold levels for Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) which is one of the important harmful pests in the production of processing tomato. For this purpose 1 field in 1998 and 3 fields in 1999 were selected in Muradiye (Manisa province). In these fields, the economic threshold level for H. armigera were tested separately as 3, 5 and 8 larvae/100 plants. Four different fields are selected for two years. In each of the field, four plot which are nearly 2 da, is established. During the vegetation period, eggs and larvae of H. armigera were counted at a sample of 100 plants randomly selected in all plots of fields per week. When the larval population is reached to determined values for first three plots, it was sprayed for H. armigera. In the fourth parcel, no spraying is made for H. armigera. The harvesting is made separately in each of plots and the yield values are determined. The costs of spraying and benefit obtained from yield increases were compared.Considering the data from this studies, it is cortaided that the economic threshold level for this pest should be 5 larvae/100 plants.
