Determination Of Effective Thermal Conduciıvity Of Thermal Barrier Coatings By Analytical Method
Thermal conductivity plays a significant role in the heat transfer problems. Modeling of
effective thermal conductivity of heterogeneous or composite materials is sensory areas of interest. There
are a lot of developed expressions for modeling of thermal conductivity in the literature. Thermal
characteristics of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are vary depending on the thermal characteristic of
coating materials, coating technique and process parameters. These factors affect the pore shapes and
directions. In this study, thermal conductivity of TBCs have been obtained by using different analytical
expressions given in the literature. Effective thermal conductivity values obtained from analytical
expressions have been compared to experimental thermal conductivity data given in the literature and the
results of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. However, effective thermal conductivity values
calculated by CFD analysis have been compared to experimental laser-flash method results given in
literature for 12% porosity. 17% of deviation have been determined between the experimental and CFD
analysis results.
