An Analysis of The Effects of Augmented Reality Activities in Teaching Fractions on 5th Grade Students’ Math Achievement and Attitudes
In the scope of the study, augmented reality activities for the fifth-grademathematics were designed and administrated with students duringmathematics lesson. Sixty, fifth grade, students from a middle school inMarmaris - Muğla participated to this study. This study was designed aspretest - posttest experimental research method without control group. Anachievement test about fractions was applied as pre-test and post-test tostudents. In addition, Mathematics attitude scale developed by Aşkar(1986) was also administrated as pre-test and post-test to observe thechange in attitudes of students towards mathematics. As a result of thestudy, it was found that there was a significant difference between thescores of the pre-test and the post-test application of the achievement test. The students' attitudes towards mathematics were also found to besignificantly different between pre-test and post-test applications. Moreover, it was also observed that there was no significant difference ingender-based attitudes after the study while the positive attitudes of malestudents were more favorable than that of girls before the study, and thatpositive attitudes were balanced among male and female students duringthis study.
